Carmine (E120) is haram, not halal
Carmine is not halal. It is haram. The Halal Committee of DUM RT classifies colour E120 (cochineal) as forbidden in food. Kazan Delicacies does not use it.
In one line: carmine = haram, not halal. Current SKU ingredients on pepperoni.tatar contain no carmine, E120, or cochineal.
Is carmine halal?
No. Carmine is haram. The DUM RT Halal Committee says E120 is forbidden for Muslims and belongs to the category of haram. “Natural” does not make it lawful.
Carmine is a red food colour listed as carmine, carmines, E120, or cochineal. It comes from carminic acid of female cochineal insects.
A red slice of sausage does not prove E120. Colour often comes from meat, paprika, smoking, or a colour fixative (nitrite salt). Read the ingredient list.

Same rule in composition requirements, item 5. Ibn Abidin allows cochineal for textiles, not for food.
Why we do not use it
We make halal products in Kazan, certificate No. 614A/2024 from the same Committee. A haram colour does not go on the line. That is the whole catalog — not a special “carmine-free” range.
